Cloakshot
Privacy Policy
The short version
Cloakshot runs entirely inside your browser. It does not collect, transmit, store on our servers, or sell any personal data. We have no servers that receive page content or screenshots, and we do not use analytics or tracking in the extension.

License activation (Pro only)
If you activate a Pro license, the extension sends your license key and an instance label such as "Chrome on Windows" to the license API of our payment provider (merchant of record) to activate the key, and re-validates it about once a day. No page content, screenshots or browsing data are included in these requests. The provider's handling of that data is described in its own privacy policy, linked from the checkout page. If you deactivate the license or uninstall the extension, no further requests are made.
Purchases
Purchases are made through our payment provider as merchant of record, which collects the billing details required to process the payment, issue receipts and handle taxes. We receive your email address and order details so we can provide support and honor refunds. We do not receive your card number.
Browser permissions and why
- activeTab, scripting: to read the text of the page you are capturing and draw the redaction boxes, only after you click the icon or press the shortcut. The extension does not run on pages by itself.
- storage: to keep your settings, the daily counter and your license state.
- alarms: to schedule the daily license re-validation.
- downloads: to save the finished PNG when you click Download.
Website
orbecode.com/cloakshot is a static website. It sets no cookies and includes no analytics. Checkout pages are provided by our payment provider.
Children
Cloakshot is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new effective date. Material changes affecting the extension will be noted in the extension's store listing changelog.
